Dr. RV Azanza: Outstanding Research and Development Awardee for Applied Research
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) honored outstanding scientists and engineers during the opening of the 2014 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) with the theme, “Philippines: A Science Nation Meeting Global Challenges. This was held on July 24, 2014, Tuesday at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
Our very own, Dr. Rhodora V. Azanza is the awardee for the Julian A. Banzon medal for Outstanding Research and Development Award for Applied Research. She is being recognized for her outstanding research leadership for the research program, “Detection and Mitigation of Technology and Early Warning System for Philippine Harmful Algal Blooms (HAB Tech) and Molecular studies of HAB Causative Organisms and Associated Bacteria (HAB Genomics)”. The said project aimed at developing cost-effective and efficient technology for the detection and mitigation of red tides or more technically known as HABs that could mitigate their impact on public health, economy, and the environment.
